Avatar Art Director, Clothing — Meta Avatars 2.0.
Defined the styling language and visual direction for avatar wearables across social, immersive, and real-time platforms.
Styling Systems & Creative Direction

  • Designed towards the modular styling system capabilities for full-look construction across body types - silhouette, proportion, layering
  • Set seasonal direction (mood, color, silhouette) and curated collections for consistent monthly drops
  • Directed concept artists on garments and accessories; styled looks for reviews and launches
  • Led creative reviews with cross-functional leadership; mentored Lead Concept Artists
July Rewards Drop
May Rewards Drop

Core Loop Rewards Case Study

As a way to encourage users to return to the app, we dropped a monthly wearable rewards collection that offered higher tier/value items that could be acquired for in-game currency.

This is section showcases the work that I developed on this workstream, including early concept and theme-building, production, and catalog curation.
Themes + Character Designs
Above, you can see the monthly thematic brainstorming, as well as a slew of character designs that were built around the theme.  These distinct character designs ultimately helped sell the idea of the outfit, and pushed the designs to something more compelling, and with more personality, than just an outfit.

After these ideas were approved, our team moved into production:

Monthly Rewards Lineup (July)
This was the final lineup, including our other avatar customization called "Fantasticals" (full avatar swap).  All pieces of clothing + the Fantas were comprised of an entire monthly drop, and would be obtainable with an amount of in-game currency that correlated with it's inherent value.

In parallel to overseeing art production, I planned and pitched how the items were visually tiered, and separated.  These proposals would need to align with Game Design quest planning.

These slides are examples of how I proposed Core Loop monthly lineups:

Creator Templates (3P)

Curated the 3P template library for the Meta Horizon Creators Program — modular, swappable garment components creators use to author custom textures.  Since launch, creators have generated over 300,000 assets.

Art, UXR, and catalog planning teams collaborated to prioritize creator-requested silhouettes while keeping the system scalable.  This included recurring research with some of our key creators in the Meta Horizon Creator Program, and trend forecasting with our merchandiser.

Working closely with the 3D production director and concept artists, we planned the templates to be comprised of modular parts, ensuring that we get the largest asset output with the least amount of iterations.

Avatar 2.0 Launch — Wearables Styling Language

Defined how the new art style translated to clothing on a single parametric base body, which had to port across platforms at different specs, while balancing anatomical clarity with stylization. Established a style guide for production artists
